Psychotherapy

At The Practice LA, our primary approach is Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy. This is the oldest of the modern therapies, and as a result, is based in the most highly-developed and multifaceted theory of human development and interaction. This type of therapy focuses on illuminating a person's unconscious processes as they are manifested in their present behavior. The goals of psychodynamic therapy are for a client to gain self-awareness and understanding of the influence of these unconscious processes and behaviors, so that they may examine their own unresolved conflicts and reoccurring symptoms that arise from past dysfunctional relationships and manifest in a wide variety of unwanted circumstances.

GROUP THERAPY

group therapy

For Anxiety, Depression, Compulsions, etc.

Our Therapy Groups are small, intimate groups of up to five people and a therapist (or two), that typically meet once or twice each week for 90 minutes. Research has proven that group therapy is effective for a variety of people, because it offers participants hope, an understanding that they are not alone in their experiences, insight into how they function inside a group dynamic, the chance to observe, model, or imitate effective behavior, catharsis, and of course a cost-effective way to get professional help from an expert therapist.
